"Putting them in cold storage keeps your furs, shearlings and leathers supple and helps prevent these materials from drying and cracking," says Marc Kaufman of Kaufman's Fur in New York City. * Fabrics that are derived from animal hair (including angora, cashmere and basic wool blends) are most susceptible to insect damage. For optimal protection, store in acid-free, nonplastic containers, or in garment bags with mothballs or cedar chips. * Insects are attracted to perspiration, blood, perfume and oils, so make sure you clean your clothing before storing. ...
